I gotta tell ya…

One of my favorite things, is to watch the horses run and play in the pastures.

I open the gates everyday for their grazing enjoyment.

Yesterday I decided to grab my camera, for some action shots.

You know, you can never have enough of those stored on your computer.

So here we go!

Even fat, little Tater Tot got into the race.

Everyone seemed to be doing their own figure 8 patterns, almost playing chicken with each other.

Farting and squealing…

Squealing and farting…

Just such a feeling of beauty,

…and comic relief.

Don’t sell him short (yes pun intended) those little legs were a blur.

Atta boy Tater!

I see Kentucky Derby in his future.

Don’t you?

One thing for sure with Appaloosas, you can always expect change.

When I saw that the weekly photo challenge was free spirit, I immediately thought of this photo.

My husband took this last fall.

It’s dusk and the sky was brilliant.

No fences, saddle, bridle or halter. What better way (in my opinion) to represent “free spirit” than an Appaloosa. With their rich Native American history…

Well, we’ve been spoiled this winter season in Wisconsin, with some very mild temperatures and even a GREEN Christmas!

Don’t get me wrong it’s been great!!

We’ve had some boring days, too.

But now we have snow!! Let’s play ball!!!

     I know it’s here somewhere!!

Uh oh, the ball is in the horse paddock! I don’t think Sophia is going to throw it back Emma.

Do you think Gus will help?

_DSC7897I’m sure baby Sora will play along and throw it back. Smile

Gunner is victorious! Whinny and Emma? Not so much….

Scott called from work today and asked me to have Sophia saddled up and ready at 4:50 pm. He wanted to get some silhouettes against the winter sky.

He also wanted to get some using a “fill flash” technique. These were taken at the same time as the rest.

Well I just had to add this one. Cute little Tilly Tot. Well actually messy little Tilly Tot. She likes it best if you leave the shavings in a big pile in the stalls. She will help spread them out for you. Such a thoughtful donkey.

Until next time…Appy Trails to you.

My husband just got another new lens for his camera. This is an ultra wide angle lens. You know the lens they use to take photos of hotel rooms so they look big but when you get there it’s a tiny room? You know what I’m talking about.

Anyway, he decided to take pictures of the critters….

This is Sophia. Uhmm…she has a nice personality?

Winking smile

Next is Feather.

It looks like she’s having an allergic reaction!

This is Sora, Feather’s 8 month old moose. Baby! I mean baby!

This is old Gus. He’s a good baby sitter with Sora. From his nose, it looks like he’s quite a drinker!

And finally my little donkey Tilly.

I’ve gotten a few comments on how strange my ass looks…

As you could probably tell, all of our critters are pretty skittish and hard to photograph.

Until next time, appy trails to you.
